چکیده

Abstract Groundwater recharge (GR) is a complex process that difficult to quantify. Increasing attention has been given unsaturated zone modeling estimate GR and better understand the processes controlling it. Continuous soil-moisture time series have shown provide valuable information in this regard. The objectives of study were (i) analyze factors an unconfined granular aquifer cold humid environment (ii) assess uncertainties associated with use data from different sources. Soil moisture monitored over three years at experimental sites southern Quebec (Canada) used calibrate HYDRUS-1D model ranges possible region where groundwater increasingly as source fresh water. simulations identified quantified important responsible for near-surface water balance leads GR. resulting estimates 2016 2018 showed marked differences between sites, values ranging 347 735 mm/y. Assessing controls on diffuse groundwater recharge using unsaturated flow modeling

[1] Understanding climate, vegetation, and soil controls on recharge is essential for estimating potential impacts of climate variability and land use/land cover change on recharge. Recharge controls were evaluated by simulating drainage in 5-m-thick profiles using a one-dimensional (1-D) unsaturated flow code (UNSAT-H), climate data, and vegetation and soil coverages from online sources. Soil ...

Groundwater flow to a horizontal or slanted well in an unconfined aquifer

[1] New semianalytical solutions for evaluation of the drawdown near horizontal and slanted wells with finite length screens in unconfined aquifers are presented. These fully three-dimensional solutions consider instantaneous drainage or delayed yield and aquifer anisotropy. As a basis, solution for the drawdown created by a point source in a uniform anisotropic unconfined aquifer is derived in...
